LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister’s Health Adviser Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed that dengue counters established in different hospitals should be made effective and banners also be displayed for the awareness of the patients.
Presidingover a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Dengue Control at the Civil Secretariat here on Tuesday, he ordered to conduct third party validation of indoor-outdoor dengue surveillance teams particularly in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Multan and Sheikhpura districts.
Member of Punjab Assembly Pir Ashraf Rasool,the district coordination officers(DCOs) of Lahore and Sheikhupura and the senior officers of all the departments concerned attended the meeting. The commissioners and the DCOs of Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan also participated in the meeting through video links.
The meeting was briefed about the indoor-outdoor dengue surveillance activities and other steps taken for dengue control by the different departments. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) officers and the special branch pointed out gaps in the dengue surveillance activities and arrangements in the hospitals.
It was informed that majority of private hospitals are not providing data regarding dengue patients to PITB. Salman directed that a vibrant data collection system from the private hospitals and general medical practitioners should be evolved and implementation on it also be ensured.
Salman directed the officers of the concerned departments to remove the gaps pointed out in the IT board and the special branch reports. He called a meeting of the medical superintendents of public sector hospitals on Monday.
