Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah proposed a joint effort with Pakistan Railways to revive the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR). He said the project is urgent and has faced long delays. Shah suggested outsourcing operations to improve service quality and efficiency.
During a meeting with Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, Shah emphasized upgrading the Karachi-to-Rohri rail line. He said running more trains on this route would greatly ease commuter travel. The improvements aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve public transport in the region.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced a new passenger train service from Karachi to Sukkur. The project will cost Rs 6 billion and will bring modern facilities, including air conditioning. Abbasi also promised to replace all rail tracks across Karachi with new ones.
Both officials agreed to remove encroachments along railway lines to ensure smooth progress of these projects. Clearing these obstacles will speed up construction and improve safety. The move shows the government’s commitment to improving railway infrastructure in Sindh.
