Punjab has launched Pakistan’s first emergency airlift drone to help rescue people during floods and natural disasters. The drone can lift a person weighing up to 200 kilograms and transport them to safety. This new technology aims to speed up rescue operations and save more lives in hard-to-reach areas. The Punjab Home Department confirmed the drone is ready for immediate deployment.
The drone was tested in Lahore before being sent to Multan, where rising floodwaters have stranded residents. Civil Defense teams completed several successful test flights. Officials said the drone is fully operational and capable of performing in real disaster conditions. The Home Secretary has ordered its urgent use in South Punjab’s flood-hit zones.
The government plans to purchase ten more airlift drones for Civil Defense. These will support faster response during emergencies across the province. Officials say these high-tech tools will boost efficiency and improve rescue outcomes. With more drones, the province aims to build a stronger, faster rescue network.
In addition to the drones, Punjab has launched the Civil Defense Resilience Corps. The corps will consist of trained volunteers ready to respond during any disaster. Over 4,000 people have already registered online to help flood victims. Volunteers will receive international-standard training and rescue equipment.
The Home Secretary praised Civil Defense teams as frontline heroes. He said the integration of modern technology marks a major shift in emergency response. With airlift drones and trained volunteers, Punjab is raising its rescue system to global standards. The goal is to protect lives and act quickly when disaster strikes.
